Description
We have a particular fondness for our rustic Wabi-Sabi Jizo Statues, handmade by Wabi-Sabi Studios on Vashon Island. They are inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which celebrates the imperfect and the natural. Each Jizo has its own unique character with a slightly rough texture that adds to its charm.
Stained in earthy green and brown tones, this Jizo blends harmoniously with nature, making it a perfect companion for both indoor altars and outdoor gardens.
Weather-resistant and sturdy, the Wabi-Sabi Jizo Statue is comfortable in any environment. Whether placed by your front door or in a corner of your home, these statues radiate a quiet sense of peace and protection.
Jizo, known as Ojizo-sama in Japan, is a beloved bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism, known as a protector of the vulnerable, especially children, travelers, and the souls of the deceased. In Sanskrit his name is Ksitigarbha, meaning “Earth Womb,” symbolizing his vow to help and protect all beings.
