Description
The rakusu is a small version of the kesa, so is an abbreviated representation of the Buddha’s original robe.
The Still Sitting Rinzai Rakusu is a classic Rinzai rakusu. It comes in black or brown each with a light colored backing suitable for calligraphy.
The light-colored backing on the Rinzai Rakusu extends to the edge of the rakusu, unlike our Soto Rakusu, which has a dark border around a white square on the back.
Each is handmade from your choice of four materials: Brocade Silk, Silk, Linen/Cotton or Poly/Cotton Twill.
You may also choose from the six different rakusu rings. Our Classic line includes a customary hard plastic ring imported from Japan, as well as two made here on Vashon island by a local fine woodworker – one a light Ash wood, the other a dark Black Walnut. We also offer Artisan Rings, which are slightly thicker, rounded one one side, and more finely crafted. The Rinzai Ring has approx. 2 ¾ diameter. The Soto Ring has approx. 2 3/8 diameter.
I could not possibly be more satisfied with the quality of this linen rakusu I received from Still Sitting! The quality and sizing are perfect and look forward to many years of practice with it.
Very clean and precise sewing. Excellent, expedited service upon request.
The Rakusu was beautifully sewn with a lovely fabric. The person I spoke with at Still Sitting was very helpful and accommodating. Thanks, again.
A bit long. That might be a thing to ask about for sizing. Otherwise love it.
