The 12 Days of Stillness
Day 1: Samue
Find comfort and functionality with this traditional Japanese garment. Our samue are designed and sewn in-house and have quickly become one of our best-selling products. We have three colors of our medium weight and linen samue jackets and pants, lightweight jackets and pants in black and Kyoto collection of jackets and pants in subtle crosshatch Japanese fabrics. All are either linen or 100% cotton, and machine washable.
Day 2: All Zabutons
The foundation of any meditation space, zabutons are rectangular cushions designed to provide comfort and support during meditation. We offer three sizes as well as two thicknesses: regular and thick. For more information on how to choose a zabuton, visit our blog.
Day 3: All Zafus
The zafu is the most popular meditation cushion and often the first cushion used when starting a meditation practice. We make several zafus in different shapes and sizes. Most come with either buckwheat or kapok fill. We offer some helpful advice on how to choose a zafu on our blog.
Day 4: All Oryoki Sets
Oryoki, the mindful and ceremonial practice of eating, comes to life with our oryoki sets. These beautiful sets include bowls, utensils, and cloths, creating a complete and harmonious dining experience. Ideal for individuals who cherish the connection between mindfulness and nourishment. Get a beautiful set for yourself or a friend during the ’12 Days of Stillness’.
Day 5: Tibetan Seat
The tibetan seat, known sometimes as a gomden, is a firm rectangular zafu developed by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. We use our 100% cotton duck fabric shell over a firm and comfortable foam block. Our foam is easy on your behind, and firm enough to provide you with the support you need – we admit it, we think it’s just right!
Day 6: Inkin Bells
These beautiful inkin bells are made in America by Teido Bill Stephens, a monk friend of ours living in Virginia. They are the only American-made inkin bells that we know of. The spun brass bell, salvaged ipe wood striker, and black walnut handle combine elegance and simplicity.
Day 7: Cushion Sets
The Still Sitting Cushion Set is the foundation of any meditation practice. Our two piece zafu and zabuton set is all you need to support your practice, whatever your experience level. We make all of our meditation cushions from beautiful and strong 100% cotton fabrics, sourced in the U.S., and sewn and stuffed in the Pacific Northwest.
Day 8: Malas
Infuse your meditation with intention by wearing one or more of our beautiful malas. These beads are not just accessories; they are tools for counting breaths and mantras, enhancing focus and mindfulness. Perfect for those who appreciate the tangible representation of their spiritual journey.
Day 9: Support Cushion
Elevate your meditation posture with a support cushion. These cushions are versatile, designed to provide additional comfort and support wherever you need it. One or two will give you the height you need to sit comfortably. Prop up a knee, so it doesn’t touch the floor, or tuck it under an ankle; anywhere you need support, you can use it!
Day 10: Nomad Bench
For those who prefer a different approach to seated meditation, our Nomad Benches offer a stylish, ergonomic, and portable alternative. We call it The Nomad, in part, because it’s the perfect bench for travel — it fits in any size suitcase or bag. This unique, Norwegian design is available only through Still Sitting.
Day 11: Mokugyo
This beautiful drum is handcrafted in Japan from camphor laurelwood, and is a pleasure to behold as well as use. It is suitable for a Zen hall, home altar, or display case. You’ll find beautiful detail in the carved fish design which is traditional for Zen drums and reminds us to be always wakeful, like a fish that doesn’t sleep. This Mokugyo has a light natural finish on it, which shows off its wood grain without paint or heavy lacquer.
Day 12: All Statues
Complete your meditation space with the timeless elegance of our meditation statues. These statues serve as visual anchors, inviting a sense of stillness and focus. We have an array of statues including Buddha, Kuan Yin, and Jizo.
